Early Season Success

The initial couple of months in America are always a challenging time for our athletes as they settle into the sporting and academic demands of US college life.  It has been great to see several FirstPoint student-athletes making an immediate impact with their respective college sides and we look forward to hearing of more success stories in the weeks and months ahead:           ·         Karin Muya, Women's Soccer - University of Notre Dame The England U19 international made a huge impact in her first game for top-ranked Notre Dame by scoring in a 2-0 against 16th ranked Santa Clara Link: https://www.und.com/sports/w-soccer/recaps/090614aab.html     ·         Lewis Hawke, Men's Soccer - Furman University Former Morton FC Academy player, Lewis, has scored four goals already for Furman this season and was named to the Collegesoccer.com Team of the Week, and Topdrawersoccer.com Team of the Week respectively.  He has his sights set on breaking Clint Dempsey's goal-scoring record for Furman and is already tipped as a top MLS draft prospect in the next few years. Link: https://furmanpaladins.com/sports/m-soccer/2014-15/releases/20140909gpnkbb     ·         Hamish Law, Men's Soccer - University of Pittsburgh Hamish has made a great start to his playing career with Pittsburgh, scoring his first collegiate goal in the 1-0 win against Longwood University.  Pitt face one of the toughest fixture lists in the country as they compete in the top-ranked ACC conference Link: https://www.pittsburghpanthers.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/090714aaa.html   ·         Liam Doyle, Men's Soccer - Ohio State University Originally from the Isle of Man, Liam has impressed all of the coaching staff at Ohio State with his leadership and looks set to have a great career with the Buckeyes.  He has already scored twice for his new side, which is particularly good going seeing as he is a central defender!  Ohio State are one of the leading NCAA Division I sides in the country. Link: https://www.wwuowls.com/news/2014/9/3/MGOLF_0903141812.aspx?path=mgolf   ·         Jordan Wilson, Men's Soccer - University of Kentucky The former Rangers FC central defender has continued-on with where he left off in his first year at Kentucky and has been excellent for the Wildcats.  He was recognised as the key factor in Kentucky's recent victory against the No.1 ranked Notre Dame side, which was shown live nationally on ESPN.  Jordan has also enjoyed great success off the field where he was named to the Commissioners Academic Honor Roll.
