This is an example of what an offer of an athletic scholarship from a college coach could look like.

It is worth noting that the athlete has been offered a significant scholarship by the university, but this will still leave his family with a difference in cost that they will have to fund themselves:

The total costs to attend the University are as follows:

• Tuition:$19890.00
• Activity/Fee:$300.00

• Room:$4450.00
• Food:$2880.00
• TOTAL:$28010.00

The scholarship offer that we would like to put to you is as follows:

• Soccer Scholarship:$15980.00
• Food:$1580.00
• Housing:$4450.00
• TOTAL:$22010.00

The difference between the costs to attend the university and the scholarship package that we have offered you is $6000, of which you will be responsible for paying for the year.

In the off-season there are opportunities to work here on the campus and therefore you should be able to cover the $6000 cost to yourself by doing some part-time work here at the university, in accordance with you visa status.

In addition to the $6000 that you will be expected to cover for the year, you should also consider the costs of flights and the social aspect of living in the USA as these are not covered in your scholarship.

The scholarship offer we have made you is significant in value and should you decide to accept it, you will become one of the biggest scholarship recipients in our current squad.

Adding you to the program will help us in our pursuit of our first National Championship and I have no doubts that you will develop both academically and athletically here at UA. I will need to receive your decision on whether to accept the offer within the next 7 days at the latest.
