The concept behind US Lacrosse Scholarships is quite simple; it provides talented amateur sportsmen and women with an exclusive opportunity to pursue both an academic and Lacrosse career simultaneously. A Lacrosse Scholarship to an American university can cover some, and at times all, of the costs associated with earning a university degree. In return, the student-athlete will represent the university in Lacrosse and maintain a good level of academic performance.

A Lacrosse scholarship to the USA is a unique opportunity to pursue an academic and playing career within some of the best academic and sporting environments in the World. Lacrosse dates back to the early Native Americans as it was thought of as a good way for young men to prepare for war. Competition for Lacrosse scholarships is fierce due to the vast majority of the opportunities at the NCAA Division III level. The NCAA Division I offers each college 12.6 scholarships for men and 12 for women. Division II offers 10.8 scholarships to each college for men, and 9.9 to women. NJCAA has 20 scholarships for Men’s Lacrosse and 20 for Women’s Lacrosse.

To be considered for a FirstPoint USA Lacrosse Scholarship, you should be physically fit, have a high level of skill in Lacrosse; you should possess a real drive and ambition to succeed. Academically, you must have completed high school and have grades to meet the initial-eligibilty requirements for the NCAA, NAIA or NJCAA. Good academic standing is an essential aspect of life as a student-athlete and this must be maintained throughout your collegiate sports career. Failure to do so could see you prohibited from training and playing with the team, and potentially lead to your scholarship being withdrawn completely. The NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA each have strict rules regarding the good academic standing of all competing athletes.
