OU’s Chris Edwards Drafted in Third Round of MISL Rochester, Mich. (Mar. 22, 2006)
Selected as the first pick in the third round, Oakland University soccer star Chris Edwards (Glasgow, Scotland) was taken as the 15th overall pick in the 2006 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) draft by the expansion Detroit franchise. This past fall, the senior wrapped up a very successful career at OU, leading the Golden Grizzlies the Mid-Continent Conference regular season title. Chris is a product of the FirstPoint USA International Scholarship Program

Portia Abbott - Women's Golf
Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville Alabama
Portia joined the JSU Gamecocks as a freshman in August 2005 and has made a real impact on the team.
Originally from England, Portia has excelled with JSU Women’s Golf Team, and will aim to make great strides towards a winning season for the ‘Gamecocks’ golf program.
In the Samford University Women’s Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, Jacksonville State placed four players in the Top 14 to finish second at the par-71, 5,803 yard Timberline Golf Course this past week.
The Gamecocks finished with back-to-back rounds of 308 to post a 36-hole total score of 616 to finish behind tournament champion Birmingham-Southern’s total of 602.
Mercedes Huarte, Shanelle Howell and Portia Abbott all three shot a tournament total of 154 to tie for eighth place

Gemma Webster
The Ohio State University
Top Female Scottish Golf Recruit Gemma Webster placed well in her first two tournaments for Ohio State University at the start of the golf season for the Buckeyes.
The team travelled to Los Angeles and Florida in the past two weeks and placed 10th and 2nd respectively.
Ohio State are currently ranked 19th in the Nation and compete in the Big Ten Conference.
The team are competing in Guadalajara, Mexico this week in the Cal Invite where they face Arizona, Arizona State, California, Duke, Georgia, Stanford, Texas, Washington, UCLA and USC. |
Daniel Willett – Men’s Golf
Jacksonville State University - Jacksonville, Alabama
Daniel has been named as one of the Top 6 Freshman in the country as the Fall semester comes to an end at Jacksonville State University.
Willett is currently ranked No. 23 in the latest Golfstat rankings after posting the best Fall in JSU's golf history. The freshman finished with a 70.93 stroke average, including 12 rounds of par or better and six rounds in the 60's.
The Sheffield, England, native posted his first career win with a career-best round of 13-under par 203 to win the Troy University Invitational. He finished in the Top 10 in all five fall events, including three straight Top 3 finishes over the final three tournaments.
During the Fall, Willett finished with 59 birdies, which is ranked No. 20 out of 5,865 college golfers. He also has four eagles, which is fourth best in the country.

Former Frankston pines Top Goal scorer Matthew Durand has emerged as Bryant and Stratton's Top player for the 2005 Fall Season.
Regarded as one of America's Top junior College teams, Bryant and Stratton recruited Matthew Durand from FirstPointUSA's new Australian Office.
With 15 Goals, and 8 assists in his first season, Matthew has definitely showed his potential and has also helped his college team to the Regional Play-Off Final.

In his short spell with the Mavericks, Leo has made a tremendous impact helping his college to the National Finals and a ninth place ranking in NJCAA.

Named to the NAIA Region XI All-Region team as a midfielder. For Crozier, this honor comes on the heels of this first team All-Conference selection and TranSouth Freshman of the Year honor. Crozier, a freshman midfielder from Glasgow, Scotland, is the fourth Union soccer player in school history to be named to the All-Region team and is the first to be named as the top player at his position by the region. On the season, Crozier was the only Bulldog to start all 18 games for Union. He tallied six goals, three assists, and 15 points on the year. His 38 shots led the team. |

Originally from Ireland, David has excelled with Winthrop
University Men’s Soccer, and is widely recognized
as the best defender in the Big South Conference. He
has received All-Big South Honors for the last two years,
and has led the ‘Eagles’ to a NCAA Tournament
berth in 2002. He was named captain in 2002, which
was an outstanding achievement for a sophomore. |

made an immediate impact with the ‘Cougars’. After
making a major contribution in Columbia’s most successful
season in their history, Stephen was recognized as Conference
Freshman of the Year, All-Region Freshman of the Year,

is being widely tipped to become an All-American selection
in his sophomore, junior, and senior years. He is
undoubtedly one of the best players in the nation. |

Team. In her first season at NMU, Hannah scored a

Russell became the third British player atJacksonville University
in Florida when he signed for Coach Flemming’s golf
program. Another excellent junior golfer who, along
with Jamie Kennedy, will aim to cement himself as a major

has the ability to make a big impact in goal forAmerican
University. She will be aiming to become the starting

those of their opponents during a very impressive 1st season
in college soccer. Coming into the team as a freshman,
John scored a handful of important goals from the midfield,
and was a key starter for the nationally ranked Tusculum

in 2004. |

The impact that these players had for Union University can be easily measured
in the fact that they led the team to their 1st ever National Championship title

Adam was recognized as one of the leading young players in

success and led the team to the NAIA Regional Championship
and to the NAIA National Championship Quarter Finals. The

A freshman forward on theUW-Green Bay men's soccer team,
was named the 2003 Horizon League Men's Soccer Player of
the Year. Cronin becomes the first ever Phoenix to receive
newcomer of the year honors since joining the conference
in 1994. Cronin was also a first team all-league
selection in his first ever honors as a Horizon League
student-athlete. |
