The Carrick Becomes FirstPoint’s ‘Home of Golf’
November 3, 2009

FirstPoint USA and De Vere, the owners of The Carrick Course on Loch Lomond, have agreed a deal which will see the prestigious course become the ‘home of golf’ for the company and its golf clients.

All FirstPoint USA golf applicants will be assessed by the company’s staff at The Carrick during a round of golf on the banks of Loch Lomond. After the assessment and interview stages, staff will make a decision on whether to offer the candidate one of the limited places available – allowing them to begin the scholarship process and be placed on scholarship at a US university.

The Carrick Course on Loch Lomond“Having The Carrick as our new home for our golf operation is a real coup and something that I know our golf staff are excited about. We hope to see the continuation of talented golfers coming through the program and enjoying the success that the likes of Callum Macauley, Daniel Willett, Russell Knox, Gemma Webster and Gavin Dear have had,” said Managing Director Andrew Kean.

“The company has always been the pioneer when it has come to ways of improving the service for our clients and recruiting US coaches. Our overall investment in the infrastructure which places our athletes in the best possible position to receive a scholarship is unparalleled anywhere in the world – whether it be with our staff, assessment process, or the comprehensive service the company offers to clients.”

Boasting a spectacular layout, this unique course offers a truly memorable round of golf. This is a real beauty of a golf course, it opened in 2007 and was designed by acclaimed golf course architect Doug Carrick and magnificently maintained, with greens like the finest of lawns.

Nine holes stick to classic Scottish Lowland along the banks of Loch Lomond, while the other nine make you climb to tackle Highland heath and tee off on sloping fairways. If, by any chance, you need to take your mind off a poor shot, the views over the Loch are incredible. In addition to this the course has various challenges such as the various lagoons situated around the course as well as having 118 bunkers. A golf experience par excellence.

Also, with USGA specification greens it means that the Carrick is open all year round with some of the most fantastic putting surfaces in the country. It has a particularly unique practice facility with an island green situated in the middle of a lagoon to test even the most accomplished of golfers.

At present, FirstPoint USA receives over 20,000 applications per year for one of the 400 places on its US scholarship program. Every applicant is interviewed and assessed on their sporting abilities before any commitment is made by either party.
