One of the most prestigious athletics departments in US collegiate sport, the Brown Bears compete in 33 different men's and women's sports.
The Brown Bears are an NCAA Division I program, competing in the Ivy League conference.
Brown's teams have enjoyed significant success at conference and national level, winning National Championships in Crew, Sailing and Rugby, with the men's rugby program claiming the national title twice in the last four years.
Located on its historic Providence campus, Brown Athletics houses a wide range of exceptional athletic facilities centred around the Wendell R. Erickson Athletic Complex, a hub that beautifully balances Ivy League tradition with modern architecture.
The crown jewel of the indoor spaces is the Meehan Auditorium, opened in 1961 and instantly recognisable by its massive white-domed roof. It serves as the historic home of Brown hockey.
Directly adjacent sits the Paul Bailey Pizzitola Memorial Sports Center (known as "The Pitz"), a multi-level, 2,800-seat arena built in 1989 that hosts basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and wrestling beneath a striking translucent Teflon-coated fiberglass roof.
The most recent addition is the Penner Field House, which opened in 2026 and features an indoor synthetic turf field, high-performance lighting and integrated filming platforms for coaching analysis.
