The Colorado Raptors signed Sean Yacoubian for the 2020 Major League Rugby season.
Sean is from Paisley, Scotland and attended St. Columbia’s School, as well as the University of Strathclyde.
He then continued his education in the U.S. at Saint Mary’s College of California from 2017-2019. Sean was part of the Scotland U20s extended squad before playing for the team in 2014.
He has also played for the Glasgow Hawks in 2010 with the U17s and continuing through the Senior team.
While at Saint Mary’s, he was a first-team Collegiate All-American in 2018 and 2019 and played with the team against Canada.
St. Mary's College began in 1863 as a diocesan college for boys established by the Most Rev. Joseph Alemany, a member of the Order of Preachers and the first archbishop of San Francisco. In 1889, the college moved east across San Francisco Bay to Oakland, California. Saint Mary's College would call Oakland home until 1928, when it moved further eastward to Moraga after a fire severely damaged the Brickpile. The Oakland site is California Historical Landmark and had been marked by a commemorative plaque until obliterated by redevelopment (gentrified condos) in the late 2010s.
