Agony Al

It's that time of the week again, time for Agony Al to shed light on a predicament or two! This week, Al's addressing the controversial subject of self-given nicknames: Dear Agony Al, I'm moving out to Michigan this week to start college.  I never had a nick name at school but I'm thinking of trying one out and seeing if it catches on, since no one will know me out there.  My surname's Maurice, what do you think would be a good nick name for me? Thanks Al, you're the best!   Yo Mo! Nicknames aren’t chosen by yourself...they’re given out by others! It's definitely not cool to start forcing your own made up nickname on people. Once you get out there and make friends (particularly in the team sports environment) you’ll no doubt be given a name. Until then just let people know your real name first! You're welcome! Al
