3 min read
Every month, the FirstPoint USA team get together to nominate our 'Athlete of the Month' from the many talented young athletes on our books.
This month, we are please to announce that we have nominated soccer star Dayle Robertson for 'Athlete of the Month - September 2012'.
Clearing team member, John Paul Boyle had this to say about Dayle :
"Dayle has been nominated for athlete of the month because he had an outstanding first client game. He came in ready for the game. He was fit, looked sharp and his finishing was quality. He scored 5 goals in his first game - not many clients have done that and he will get some very good footage as a result."
We caught up with Dayle to find out about his experience so far.....
What is your sporting background?
I have always loved football and been a season ticket holder for St Johnstone from a young age. I started playing when I was about 4 with small goals in my garden. I then joined my first team Letham Tangerines at 8 - I played with them for many seasons, being top scorer every season, winning league titles and cups along the way. I then moved to Perth St Johns then had a trial at my boyhood club St Johnstone, from there Arbroath were interested and have played the last 3 season for them, scoring lots of goals on the way, my highest achievement was coming on as a substitute in there final 2nd Division game last season.
How have you enjoyed your experience with FirstPoint USA so far?
I have just recently joined the First Point programme, and I have been impressed with how professional and well run they are. They are always there if you have and queries.
How did you feel about scoring 5 goals at a recent client game? How did you enjoy the Client Game experience?
I was very happy to do well on my first client game and knew that if I just concentrated on my game and quickly formed a partnership with my fellow players I would get goals and also create chances for the team.
What do you hope to achieve by going out to the USA on a soccer scholarship?
I hope to gain life experience in a fabulous place, make friends, get a qualification and most importantly get results on the pitch
What are your ambitions?
To play football professionally
What advice would you have for anyone who is considering joining the program?
Work hard on and off the field, never give up and just go for it!
Would you recommend FirstPoint USA to others?
I would as it can and will, change your life.
Congratulations to Dayle, our Athlete of the Month for September 2012!
