It has been a successful few weeks on the pitch for FirstPoint USA and its talented array of clients! Wingate right back and FirstPoint USA client Jack Miller has been making strides within the D2 rankings culminating in the "Bulldogs" ranking top which is a first in their 120 year history. Wingate number 3 Jack Miller made appearances in around half of the sides 14 game unbeaten run providing an assist in that time. Comprehensive wins such as the 8-1 demolition of Coker and the 6-1 victory over Clayton State contributed to their average goal / game ratio being 2.60 which is impressive for any side. Around 550 miles away another group of FirstPoint USA clients were having equal success in the GSC Finals where they ended up winning 6-5 on penalties! #Back2Back2Back is the hashtag some of their fans were proudly tweeting as it is the third year on the bounce that the title is staying in West Alabama. FirstPoint USA Clients Jack Shiels, Sam Todd, Ashley Phillips, Liam Ireland and Oreva Amata all played a part in their successful run which also ended up with Ashley Phillips and Jack Shiels being included in the 2016 GSC All-Tournament team which bodes well for the future. UWA head coach Matthew Thorne said: "It was battle that went into double overtime and then to penalties. After our first player missed his shot, it was an uphill battle, but every one of our boys kept their cool and put it away, and Brad Louis made two massive saves to help us win our third straight title." The opener from UWA was assisted by our very own Liam Ireland who alongside another FirstPoint USA Client Oreva Amata, caused multiple issues for the opposition defense having 8 shots between them. Last year she was awarded the prestigious “University Female Athlete Of The Year” and this year, Kirsten Reilly was part of the All-GSC first team selections by league coaches on Monday. Reilly, now a senior from Musselburgh in Scotland has thrived this season averaging just over an assist every game as well as becoming the "Tigers" second top scorer... all from midfield! We spoke to the #19 a few months back who made it clear that post graduation in May next year she intends to find a club in either England or Scotland and everyone at FirstPoint USA believes that her performances this season put her in good stead to do so! Eight goals and seven assists has put Max Todd in the spotlight UIC with a prestigious spot in the All-League First Team for the Sophomore from Edinburgh. Todd, who played in the academy for Hibernian FC has had lots of success during his time in Chicago including being selected in the All-Freshman Team of 2015. "First, I would like to congratulate all the players from the Horizon League who were nominated and selected," head coach Sean Phillips said. "The League continues to become more and more talented every year." Coach Sean Phillips said "First, I would like to congratulate all the players from the Horizon League who were nominated and selected" and made it clear that he believes the league is becoming more and more talented every year.
