2 min read

Congratulations to FirstPoint USA client, Marlon Opigo, who has recently committed to a soccer scholarship at Spring Hill College. Marlon has previously attended an undergraduate degree in Finance and Economics at the University of Hertfordshire and is looking forward to completing his masters in Liberal Arts. We recently caught up with Marlon to find out how he found the process of obtaining his scholarship and what he is most looking forward to upon arriving in the US.

Marlon tells us that he decided to attend university in the US as he felt it would be a good opportunity to experience a different culture and lifestyle from the UK. He also added that he is aware of how big college sports are in America, which provides student athletes the perfect platform to showcase their abilities.

Regarding the scholarship process, Marlon states for the most part, it has been an enjoyable experience, especially when playing in games for your client footage. However, he notes that some aspects of the process were not as enjoyable, such as reviewing the different scholarship offers received. Overall though, Marlon tells us that he was glad that he joined the scholarship program in the first place.

Marlon states that one of the key factors which influenced his decision to attend Spring Hill College was its affordability, as he has already completed his university degree in the UK. However, Marlon also states that the college competes in the NCAA Division 2 which is highly competitive, so he knew the school would have great facilities amongst many other benefits to enjoy.

Finally, we asked Marlon where he sees himself being in 10 years time. He told us that he hopes to be playing in a professional soccer league.

We would like to wish Marlon the best of luck for both his studies and playing career at Spring Hill College, and we will keep you update on his progress through our various social media platforms.
