FirstPoint USA has agreed a groundbreaking partnership with the English Football League which will provide a free US scholarship pathway for thousands of young, talented footballers.
The exclusive partnership will be activated through League Football Education, established in 2004 by the EFL and the Professional Footballers Association to deliver Apprenticeship Programmes to 16 to 18-year-old players at EFL clubs.
The EFL is the oldest such football competition in the world and today is home to 72 teams across the Championship, League 1 and League 2, who boast thousands of the best footballers from England and across the world. A large number of them are expected to be released by clubs this summer.
Andrew Kean, FirstPoint USA CEO, said: “This is such a massive deal for us, as well as for the English Football League with the challenges their clubs currently face as a result of the pandemic.
“We expect hundreds if not thousands of young and talented footballers to, very sadly, be released in the coming weeks and we are committed to working with the EFL to support through the process those who are open to the opportunity that is a US sports scholarship.
“It’s a hugely exciting development for FirstPoint USA and builds on our ever-expanding family of sporting partners throughout the world and we’re not done yet – there’s much more to come.”
