October 2011 Our FirstPoint USA University of the Month for October 2011 is Saint Leo University in Florida. St Leo University is situated 30 minutes North of Tampa, in West Central Florida.  Of all the universities in Florida, St Leo was namedas one of the best regional colleges in the South, according to U.S News & World. Founded in 1975, St Leo is also the first Catholic Institution of Higher Learning in Florida, has over 41 academic programs on offer for more than 15000 students. The University community welcomes people of all faiths and those with no religious affiliation. Saint Leo University has produced thousands of alumni over the years.  Perhaps the most notable alumni are: Antastasio Somoza Debayle, the former President of Nicaragua Charles Henri Baker, a Haitian Industrialist and presidential candidate Desi Arnaz, former musician J.P Ricciardi, the former General Manager of the Toronto Blue Jays Lee Marvin, Academy-award winning actor Bob Tewksbury, Major League Baseball Player.
