We’ve taken a look at some of the Sororities in the US & put together a top 5 list: 5. Lewis School For Girls - Delta Gamma The Delta Gamma sorority started in 1873 at the Lewis School for Girls. The colors for this sorority are bronze, pink and blue Delta Gamma's flower is the cream colored rose. The sorority is often known as DG for short. Delta Gamma is a 150 chapter sorority and has the motto of "Do Good." Delta Gammas have funded genetic research, low-vision adaptive devices, tapes, Braille books and hundreds of life-enhancing programs. Its executive offices are based in Columbus, Ohio.   4. Longwood University - Zeta Tau Alpha The Zeta Tau Alpha sorority started in 1898 at Longwood University, with approximately 150 chapters and growing. Turquoise and steel gray are its official colors and the white violet is its official flower. The official motto is "Seek the Noblest." The purpose of Zeta Tau Alpha is the intensifying of friendship, the fostering of a spirit of love, the creating of such sentiments, the performing of such deeds, and the moulding of such opinions as will be conducive to the building up of a purer and nobler womanhood in the world. The founders chose the greek Titaness Themis to represent the sorority, and she gives the name to Zeta Tau Alpha’s quarterly magazine which features collegiate and alumnae chapter news, photos, and achievements   3. Syracuse University - Alpha Phi Alpha Phi was founded in 1872 at Syrcause University in upstate New York. The official colors of the university are bordeaux and silver. Known as AP, the sorority has 150 chapters and growing. The motto is "Union hand in hand." It was the third Greek-letter organization founded for women. In Alpha Phi the Greek letter Phi is pronounced "Fee". Alpha Phi created the Forget-Me-Not Fund which helps aids active or alumnae sisters who are in need from disastrous events. Alpha Phi sorority recognizes Ursa Major, also known as the Great Bear, as their constellation. The Alpha Phi Foundation has a mission to empower women to be generous givers by raising and awarding funds for programs that advance leadership development, encourage academic excellence, improve women's heart health, support sisters in need, preserve heritage and educate about the value of philanthropy.   2. Miami University - Delta Zeta Delta Zeta was founded in 1902 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Delta Zeta is one of several greek houses to be started at this school. The sorority's colors are Rose and Green and its flower is the pink killarney rose. Known also as DZ, the sorority has about 160 houses scattered throughout the U.S. and beyond. Through the years, Delta Zeta has absorbed four other sororities: Beta Phi Alpha in 1941, Phi Omega Pi in 1946, Delta Sigma Epsilon in 1956, and Theta Upsilon in 1962. The sorority supports several hearing and speech impaired programs. In 2006 Delta Zeta partnered with The Painted Turtle and The Starkey Hearing Foundation; adding both to the national philanthropic project.   1. Chi Omega - University of Arkansas The Chi Omega is ranked number 1. Founded in 1895 at the Univeristy of Arkansas, the sorority's colors are cardinal and straw and its flower is the white carnation. Boasting almost 200 chapters worldwide its motto is "Hellenic Culture and Christian Ideals." The official sorority mascot is the owl, and the symbol is the skull and crossbones. Chi Omega made the Make-A-Wish Foundation its official philanthropy in 2000. Chi Omega aims to be the premier national women's organisation in the 21st Century. They also aim to establish renewed respect for women, by promoting high morals and ethics, personal growth, professional development and a network of help and support, for life. The Eleusis is the official publication of Chi Omega sorority. The sorority's day to day business activities are overseen by the Governing Council which consists of five elected members.
