England v Scotland: The Oldest Rivalry In World Football

1 min read
Tonight England play Scotland at Wembley Stadium in a football fixture that's dubbed "the oldest rivalry in world football". The first game was played as far back as 1872, in Glasgow, with the match ending 0-0. Since then England have won 45 games to Scotland's 41, with 24 draws. Both teams used to play every year as part of the home nations competition. However this stopped in 1989 after crowd trouble. The last time the sides met was in 1999 during a European Championship play off. Scotland won 1-0 at Wembley with a Don Hutchinson header however England went through 2-1 on aggregate. If you're not lucky enough to have a ticket for the match, it's live on Sky Sports, 8pm Kick-off.
