Joining our expanding list of soccer players here at FirstPoint USA is Ben Leyland. Ben has grown up playing soccer in his hometown of Hornsea, where he currently studies at Bishop Burton Higher Education Centre. Having previously played for Hall Road Rangers and Bishop Burton’s College Academy, Ben currently plays for Hornsea Town AFC’s first team.
Ben, who has had a very successful soccer career wishes to go to the states on a soccer scholarship in order to face new challenges and pursue a once in a life time opportunity.
We often ask our clients to tell us about their top three favourite sports men and women are, Ben had this to say regarding his top three…
"Steven Gerrard; my idol whilst I was growing up.
Jami Vardy; his story of rags to riches is very inspirational – nearly quitting football only a few years ago to becoming a premier league winner and record breaker.
Muhammad Ali; becoming world and Olympic champion, besides fighting the racial problems the world had during that time."
Ben has been awarded an impressive list of titles throughout his soccer career including being named Young Player of the Year, Top Goal Scorer on two occassions, as well as Player’s Player three times. However, he states his favourite sporting memory to be winning the East Riding Cup with his school team during Year 10, stating the experience was made even better by being able to share it with his friends.
When we asked Ben where he sees himself being in 10 years time, he told us he hopes to still be out in the States having secured himself a job. We’re sure this is definitely achievable for Ben as he definitely has the potential.We will keep you updated with his progress though our various social media platforms.
