FirstPoint USA are delighted to launch a new partnership with the Strachan Football Foundation, one of the most successful football education programs in the UK, to support young footballers from the Foundation aiming for scholarship opportunities in the States.
Established in 2011 by Scotland, Aberdeen, Manchester United and Leeds United icon Gordon Strachan - who also went onto manage his country after successful managerial spells at Coventry, Southampton and Celtic – the Foundation works with students aged 16 to 21, working with aspiring players within a learning environment to develop personal growth through education and football.
Located in Warwickshire, both education and training programs are based at the University of Warwick and having already worked with a number of players who have progressed to soccer scholarships in the US, the Foundation are teaming with FirstPoint USA to establish a more formal pathway for those looking to progress their career as a student-athlete with universities and colleges in the States.
Ryan Wilson, the former Scotland rugby international and FirstPoint USA ambassador who like Gordon amassed 50 caps for his country, caught up with him recently at Dundee FC’s training facilities, to discuss the new partnership … and a whole lot more.
